La Grande Mélée 2021
description
Power with a fresh finish.
Beneath the RFV block in the Costières de Nîmes runs a thin seam of limestone — rare in this region, and the quiet force behind everything this wine does. It gives La Grande Mélée its signature tension: broad and commanding on the palate, yet lifted by a cool, faintly mineral freshness that lingers long after the glass is empty.
Hand-harvested and fully destemmed, the grapes ferment slowly before an extended post-fermentation maceration of 10 to 15 days on skins, building structure without weight. Twelve months in steam-heated oak barrels — a deliberate choice — preserve the wine's freshness and coax out its minerality rather than masking it with toast or vanilla.
